Remember Their Faith

Staying close to Jesus helps us grow

God’s Word for Me

“Since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses… let us run with endurance… by keeping our eyes on Jesus.”

Hebrews 12:1–2 (NLT)

Have you ever felt tired of doing something good? Sometimes God uses other people to encourage us when we want to give up.

The Bible tells us about many people who trusted God before us. We may also know a grandparent, teacher, pastor, friend, or family member whose faith helps us remember that God is always faithful. Their stories can give us courage to keep going.

These faithful people do not take the place of Jesus. Their lives point us toward Him. When the journey feels hard, we can remember their faith, receive encouragement from others, and keep our eyes on Jesus.

Let’s Wonder

Who has helped you learn about Jesus? What did that person say or do?

When you feel tired or want to give up, how could remembering that person help you keep going?

Create and Remember

Create a “Pointing Me to Jesus” picture.

Draw someone who has helped you learn about Jesus—or write the person’s name inside a large frame. Around the picture, add words or small drawings that show what this person has taught you. You might draw a Bible, praying hands, a helping hand, or a heart.

At the bottom, write:

“Thank You, God, for __________. Their faith points me to Jesus.”

Place your picture somewhere you will see it. When you feel tired or discouraged, let it remind you that God gives us faithful people to encourage us along the way.

My Next Faithful Step

This week, I will learn one more faith story about the person in my picture.

I can ask that person—or someone who remembers them—to tell me about a time God helped them keep going. Then I will add one new word or drawing to my picture and thank God for their faithful example.

A Prayer I Can Pray

Dear God,

Thank You for the people who help me know and follow Jesus. When I feel tired or discouraged, help me remember their faith and receive their encouragement. Keep my eyes on Jesus, and give me courage to take my next faithful step.

Amen.
