Draw Near
Turning our attention toward God and accepting His invitation to come close.
James 4:8 (NLT)
Be Still
Scripture
Come close to God and God will come close to you.
James 4:8
Reflection
Life can become so full that we begin living around God, rather than living with God. We may still believe, pray, attend church, and try to live faithfully, yet find that our hearts become hurried or distracted.
God’s invitation is simple. Come close.
You do not need perfect words. You do not need to have everything figured out. You simply need to turn your attention towards Him.
This week, notice the moments when you feel far away, rushed, worried, or distracted. Instead of trying to fix everything first, let those moments become an invitation to draw near.
Prayer
Lord, guide my heart and calm my thoughts. Help me to rest in your presence today. Remind me that You are with me and that is enough. Amen
Conversation
Who helped you feel close to God?
Share with a spouse, child, friend, neighbor, small group - or simply ponder it on your own.
This Week’s Next Step
Give someone your full attention
Choose one person this week and intentionally slow down enough to truly see and listen to them. Put away your phone. Don’t rush the conversation. Don’t think about what you will say in response. Simply be present.
Journal Reflection
Where have I noticed God drawing my attention back to Him this week?
Take time to write or draw your thoughts if it helps you to reflect. There is no pressure or expectation - just an invitation to simply listen and notice how God pulls you closer to Him during this week. And remember that God wants a relationship with you. He delights in spending time with you.
May you notice how close God already is in the ordinary moments of your week.
